About Food Access Coalition

Powered by a fleet of trucks, a central warehouse, and the faith-driven generosity of Baltimore's churches and non-profits.

Our Origin Story

Born in the crucible of the 2020 pandemic, Food Access Coalition emerged as a rapid-response solution to growing food insecurity in Baltimore. What started as an emergency effort quickly became a sustainable logistics platform connecting surplus food with neighbors in need.

From distribution centers to parking lots—often on the same day—we've built a network that turns potential waste into life-sustaining meals.

Our Coalition

The Food Access Coalition is a collaboration of Baltimore nonprofits, each with its own EIN, united by a shared mission: ensuring no Baltimore resident goes hungry. Our partners each contribute unique strengths that together create a powerful food distribution network.

Together we operate as a regional distribution organization (RDO). We supply 191 partner food pantries and distribution sites (as of Q4 2026), and those sites serve the public. We don't serve individuals or families directly.
